Job Description

As a Cinematographer for Scorpion, you’ll be responsible for moving audiences through a compelling, inspiring, or otherwise emotional experience that connects them to our clients (or Scorpion)! You’ll be filming client testimonials that demonstrate our value proposition to prospective clients on our website and social media as well as commercials for clients. You’ll not only operate the camera to get the shots needed for both our clients and Scorpion Corporate Marketing but you’ll also play a crucial role in visualizing the right shots with respect to framing, lighting, body language, etc. prior to shooting to ensure we achieve the desired mood.
Scorpion Studios is the cornerstone for all of our clients’ video advertisements. As the storytelling conduit for our clients, expressing their passions and what makes them unique to their industry is our passion. We create videos from pre-production to post, concept to delivery as well as all corporate video services for Scorpion. We even produce Scorpion’s original series, Get To Work! As Studios is a team of creatives, the ability to communicate effectively and work with many unique personality types is a huge advantage!What your success will look like
  • Read through screenplays with the Head of Production to visualize and determine appropriate lighting, angles, and framing to create the right mood for filming
  • Collaborate effectively with the Head of Production and production crew members
  • Support all aspects of the post-production process
  • Use and understand framing, body language, and lighting to achieve the footage needed
  • Collaboratively create shot lists, storyboards, etc. to outline the structure and style
  • Conduct research and visit potential sites for filming
  • Work with post-production to ensure the desired effect is preserved during editing, coloring, etc.
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in the film industry amp; attend training/workshops when possible
Who you are and what you bring
  • 3+ years of experience as a cinematographer/director of photography, camera operator
  • Degree / formal classes in cinematography
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment with quick turnaround and tight deadlines
  • A creative thinker with the ability to visualize and execute your ideas
  • A passion for film, a creative eye for detail, and excellent hand-eye coordination in operating the camera
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at any given time, multitasking and shifting priorities as required
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% of the time
  • Candidate must be near our Valencia, CA office
