Do you want to take the challenge to lead the engineering group in charge of helping and inspiring users (b2c and b2b) in ManoMano?
This is what you need to know:
The Engineering Manager position is a key engineering leadership position in ManoMano, inside the Train Visitors B2Bamp;B2C and the Inspire Engineering group.
The Inspire Engineering group, inside the Visitors train, is in charge of maximizing the conversion and order value through dedicated help through our ManoAdvisors to our b2c customers, dedicated help through our B2B pre-sales support to our pro users and tons of pages for inspiration and self advice through tipsheets, blog posts, inspirational renovation projects and more. This is the group in charge of making ManoMano an inspirational place to come and learn and to adopt the digital buying habit for the DIY market.
It’s composed of 3 Feature Teams (each one including backend, frontend and app) with an Engineering Lead in each team. Around 20 people in the Inspire organization.
FT Expert Advice: focused on helping our b2c customers through expert people (the ManoAdvisors) that can help in the same way as in a physical shop experience.
FT Pro Support: focused on helping our pro users in finding and optimizing their cart and improving the digital adoption in the pro market.
FT Room Shopping: focused on exposing advice and inspiration through a CMS and renovation projects that inspire our b2c users for every space.
The teams are located in Paris and Barcelona.
Our tech stack is:
  • Java/ Kotlin and Golang for our backend microservices
  • REST, GraphQL, DDD, RabbitMQ
  • MySQL, Postgres, Redis, S3 as our main Data sources
  • AWS, EKS (Kubernetes), Gitlab CI/CD
  • NextJS, ReactJS, Redux, redux-saga and react-native for our frontend and apps
We have a huge challenge ahead to:
  • Simplify how our ManoAdvisors can manage their conversations and the revenue they are making of it.
  • Extend our coverage of Questionsamp;Answers to most of our catalog so our users can benefit from previous conversations around a product between a ManoAdvisor and a user and access it directly from the product page.
  • Link more amp; more products in an automated way to renovation projects as a source of inspiration to our users.
  • Ensure our b2b pre-sales support team has better qualified leads and every pro experiencing ManoManoPro for the first time becomes a Loyal user.
We are looking for a person with strong technical expertise together with great leadership and management skills that will be reflected in your day to day activities:
  • Owning the engineering aspects of your organization: architecture, performance, daily run, maintenance, etc
  • Manage 3 Engineering Leads, each leading a Feature Team
  • Foster a culture of continuous innovation, exploration and learning: we take bold decisions on our technology to take advantage of the latest trends.
  • Coach your direct reports and their reports for their career growth including career development plans, trainings, budgeting, etc.
  • Share the vision of where you want your organization to go and co-build with your leads a set of OKRs that drive the performance of your teams.
  • Liase with Product to enrich the solution exploration stages so deep engineering expertise is at the center of the solutions provided to our customers.

As so, we think that you should be bringing:
  • +8 years of experience as a software engineer
  • +3 years of experience leading team[s] of software engineers
  • Event Based systems through Kafka and streaming
  • GraphQL and Federated schemas
  • Architectural proven skills: having designed at least 3 complex systems or refactoring of such and live in production
  • Natural leader having developed and coached key software engineers into Lead engineers.
  • Fluent in English
And what would make you a great candidate for the position:
  • Knowledge around E-commerce and the Advice scope
  • Kubernetes, AWS (or any cloud provider) being used in your previous experiences
  • Java, Kotlin, Golang, GraphQL being used in your previous experiences
  • Leading Leaders for more than 1 year
