WHO WE ARE
Veepee is looking for an interim Legal Counsel for the period of approximately 1 year covering a maternity starting in December 2021 and until the end of 2022/beginning of 2023.
The Legal Counsel shall have corporate, commercial and consumer law skills, preferably in the e-commerce field, to be an integral part of the Group’s Legal Department and work closely with country and department’s managers to identify and to provide support to all e-commerce activities in Germany and Austria. This will include day-to-day follow up of the corporate affairs of the Germany subsidiary.
This position is part of Veepee’s International Legal Department, which covers legal support to the Veepee’s activities outside of France: Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and Brazil.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Under the supervision of the Head of Legal International, the Legal Counsel will be in charge of the German and, at a more limited level, Austrian markets.
The Legal Counsel will play a leading position in the business of Veepee in these markets by providing proactive, in-depth, legal, business-focused advice to the business, as well as implementing initiatives and processes, especially in data protection, in order to set standards and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, ethical behaviour and responsibility across our e-commerce business.
The Legal Counsel is responsible to analyse and identify the legal risks and implications of all of the business’s transactions, keeping the senior management in all departments of the business and the German Country Manager (in charge as well of the Austrian activities) informed of developments in laws and regulations that potentially affect the business.
The lawyer will be the sole counsel in the German and Austrian markets and will be part of a department of 8 people, based in Spain, Belgium and Brazil. He/she will be reporting to the Group's Head of Legal for the International Region.
The lawyer shall be able to act autonomously in providing legal advice on all areas of Law that affect the company, but mainly on the following matters:
• Commercial contracts (commercial contracts with customers and suppliers, logistics, distribution, collaboration agreements, etc.)• Consumer, advertising and marketing law• Electronic commerce and New Technologies• Competition/distribution law, IP / IT• Drafting of writings, letters and all kinds of legal communications• Follow-up and answer to claims and open legal procedures, where necessary in cooperation with external lawyers.
WHO YOU ARE
Language: Excellent level of German and English are a must for this position, as both languages are used in the day to day operations and negotiations of Veepee Germany. French would be an asset.
Education: Ideally, the Legal Counsel must have successfully passed the two German state examinations in Law or have a Master in Law from a recognized German University with focus on contract/commercial law or consumer law.
